This is a sermon that focuses on the undeniable power of prayer. The series, PRAY FIRST, is meant to challenge Christians to make prayer a priority in their everyday lives. Plenty of biblical scriptures emphasize this point of making prayer a priority, such as in the book of Colossians.
How To Make Prayer a Priority
It is good for the church and its members to prioritize prayer. The Bible insists on prayer because;
- Prayer releases the power of God in our lives.
- Prayer changes things
- Prayers invite God into our lives and make the impossible possible
Here are a few things you can do to ensure that prayer is at the top of the list in everything you do;
Establish a Prayer Pattern (Colossians 4:2)
You need to resolve in your heart that you will keep praying as a Christian. The four main things you can do to establish and adhere to a prayer pattern are;
Choose a consistent length block of time where you pray. You can start with a doable time, even as little as five minutes, and increase as you grow.
Choose a consistent location where you can pray.
Choose a consistent time that you pray, be it morning or night.
Choose a partner you can pray with.
Pray Boldly (Genesis 18:23, Ephesians 3:12)
Pray as Abraham prayed for his nephew Lot, who lived in Sodom and Gomorrah. How do you pray boldly?
By asking God to do things beyond your ability or that you have given up on.
Never let guilt stop you because Christ has given you access to God.
God loves to answer prayers, so you should pray boldly and in faith.
Pray for the Unreached to be Reached (Colossians 4:3-5)
Pray for people who don’t know God to come to the saving knowledge of Him. You can pray for God to open doors for Saint Cloud to know Him. Pray that God allows you to touch the lives of the people in Saint Cloud and bring them to Him.
Persistent prayer helps to bring your loved ones to God and allows the church to mature. Some of the steps you can take during the PRAY FIRST series are to;
